MILLIJOULE is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Yet to be tested in alpine conditions but.... I bought this stove to hopefully be a replacement, or as much of a replacement as possible, to my MSR Whisperlite. I wanted something that that I could use in high alpine and winter conditions, while having a push ignitor. I've been stuck in the tent many times and never wanted to ignite the whisperlite in the vestibule. So, I bought this so I could melt snow while still in the tent. So far it has worked really nicely by my house at over 9,000 feet. It starts fast and boils quick. It's compact and super light and I'm looking forward to really testing it in harsher alpine conditions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to use This is a really cool stove for high-alpine or cold-weather adventures. Jetboil provided me with one to check out and it worked great during several cold-weather backpacking trips at 10,000 feet. It’s a pretty ingenious method for getting better performance out of a stove in harsh conditions, and it’s a lot easier to use than a liquid-fuel stove! Just be prepared for the flare up when you flip the canister over after priming it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Wanted to love it... I have used two Millijoules on a handful of trips, and in both cases, the black plastic around the burner melted within a few uses. On one, the ignition button also popped off. Luckily, I bought these at REI, so I was able to return them. I loved the product so much, just, why put meltable material right next to the burner? Why??? I now own a Joule, but it is much bigger than I need. :(

Hi. Will any other cooking accessories such as the Jetboil flux ring frypan work with this stove? Cheers

Asked by: Loyal2no1
Hello :) Thank you for your interest! The Joule system is unique with its design for use in the colder temps and higher elevations. The thing that sets it aside from the other systems is the inverted fuel canister that enables the liquid fuel feed. That said, this is not compatible with a pot support and will not work with other cooking pots.

I am considering purchasing a Millijoule, but I really like the idea of liquid fuel. Where is the list of liquid fuel options and what would I need to use liquid fuel with the stove?

Asked by: Presto Gusto
The MilliJoule doesn’t take white gas or the like. In cold weather the compressed isobutane transforms from a gaseous state into a liquid. The millijoule allowa you to invert the canister and this feed the transformed liquid through the stove. It works quite well!

Also, can you use the stove with large pots from regular, old school, cooking pots (1-2 gallon sizes)?

Asked by: Presto Gusto
Hello Again :) Thank you for asking! The MilliJoule is not compatible with a pot support and is designed only to be used with the Joule pots.

What pots are compatible with the millijoule? I there any compatible frying pan or larger pots for larger groups?

Asked by: IanFW
Hi Ian, Thank you for reaching out. The MiiliJoule is considered a self contained cooking system and is great for the higher elevations and colder temperatures. That said, unlike some of our other burners, it is not compatible with the pot support for the larger pans. Please let us know if you have any further questions and we will be happy to assist.

Regarding the new MilliJoule, $180 is a bit steep.  Why not offer just the burner and valve assembly separately, so we can use it with our existing Jetboil pots?  Will the burner fit into your 1.8L/Sumo pot?

Asked by: JeffS
Hi Jeff, Thank you for reaching out. The MilliJoule, as a self-contained system, is not compatible with our other cooking vessels. That said, it is the only system in its class that can be used either as a liquid feed or in gas mode. It is regulated for consistent performance down to 10*F/-12*C. It is a lightweight compact system ideal for alpinists and mountaineers. When it comes to cooking in the coldest temperature or the higher elevations, this system can stand up to the test better than anything currently out on the market. Please let us know if there is anything else that we may assist you with. Happy Camping!
